A quick search about the interweb and there was talk of registering iTunes dlls and the likes but I stumbled across one easier fix that happened to work. most searches resulted in dead ends. The new nano, however is neither nano in size nor is it really that small. This nano was the perfect size and perfect shape. It truly deserved the name nano. That's All! Everytime I turn it on or attach it to iTunes, it goes through the restoration process. Oh and btw........using iFuntastic prevented a restore. The required disk cannot be found.

My Ipod 30GB 5th Gen is caught in a perpetual restoration. It downloaded something (although i think it didnt and my device is NOT jailbroken ) then said 'Exiting recovery...' and 'Rebooting...' my iPod then showed up with 'Slide to Unlock' and I tried it again with a couple of albums, ipod was still good. I hvae tried the diagnostics, it lets me look at the hd, I have run tests on memory and all buttons, no errors in fact a complete diognostics test.
